Because there is now talk of Sarah Palin being a presidential contender for the 2012 election, I thought it might be a good thing to look at the astrology of her Sidereal Birth Chart, as well as how things look in her chart for the coming two years.  In this post I will only discuss her birth chart.  The progressions and other indications for the 2012 election I’ll deal with in a subsequent post.

The chart is drawn up using a 6pm birth time on Feb. 11, 1964, in Sandpoint, Idaho.  There has been considerable discussion on the internet concerning her birth time  – and the same is true for all the major political players these days; it makes one wonder, why can’t we just get this information for anyone running for political office?  What’s the problem here?  It seems to me that things like official birth certificates (the one with time of birth listed), along with things like school records and the like should be available.  If you put yourself forward like these people do, it should just come with the territory.  But apparently, not.

In any event, this will also afford an opportunity to incorporate some interpretive techniques that have fallen out of favor in the New Age, but which can  be extremely useful, although the way they will be used here will be updated with some emphasis on how this all plays out from the perspective of Vajrayana Buddhist perspectives.

The first thing that pops to one’s attention is of course the close conjunction of her Sun, Mars and Saturn within 10 degrees of her 7th House, which is a bit out to call it “in the foreground”, but nevertheless, is significant.  This is someone with considerable drive and ambition, who will always face stiff opposition, but who can’t be bent or toppled by name calling and the like.

The other significant factor here is the conjunction of Uranus and Pluto in her 1st House, with Leo on the Ascendant.  How fitting for someone who just seems to come up into prominence out of left field, and then manages to completely upset the established order.  I’m referring to her getting the Vice Presidential nomination from McCain, and then this whole Tea Party thing really taking off, and now there is talk of her possible bid for the presidency.

It is very interesting that a beauty queen, governor of Alaska, and possible Presidential contender would have a Sun that is dark, lame and pitted.  But from a Vajrayana perspective, this makes a certain sense, not having anything to do with her looks, but instead, the karmic and samsaric challenges that characterize her, for example, such things as fundamental Christian beliefs, which indicate a strong fixation with conceptual forms in samsara.  It is also evident in how people seem dislike her, strictly on the face of it.  People seem to just hate her voice, or something about her, yet, it doesn’t inhibit her in any way.  She just gets up in front of everyone and all the cameras, her whole life on public display, and just bounds ahead.  Truly remarkable.  For those who are interested in such things, you might try analyzing all this as if Palin’s political career is a vast chod ceremony, in which the demons are substantialized by visualization and then annihilated. Except that in this case, it is all performed on the stage of world events!

By the way, notice that her two very powerful and influential planets in her chart, Saturn and Uranus, are also both Smokey and Pitted.  This makes me think that she has already, in a sense, made a pact with the Devil… my cute little way of referring to the fact that no one since at least 1963 gets to be President of the United States, or even a candidacy, without being vetted by certain “dark” interests.  These interests don’t particularly care which party or candidate wins, that is just window dressing for the idiots that vote.  They are in charge no matter who wins.  That is why you will never see a true parliamentary style democracy or even a real third party system develop in the USA:  it would be too difficult to control, and therefore unpredictable, which is not what the controllers want.  Above all else, they need predictability, so that they can set themselves up to profit from whatever develops.

Back to the astrology Palin’s chart, her 10th House MC is increasing in fortune, and in the decan of Venus and the Dwad of Mercury, both of which are Masculine and Light, meaning that she can usually anticipate getting favorable attention.  She knows instinctively how to communicate and how to look.  She’s got social graces that can be used to further her career and her public standing.

Everything in this chart bespeaks a conservative bent, but one that harnesses new waves of energy to get things done.  Her style is to come out of left field, but she is still solid with the mainstream power structures.  In this light, she shares a lot in common with Obama.
